About the First Neighborhood
Our beautiful neighborhood was the first primary area developed as part of a unique master-planned community with Westlake Lake and surrounding development. It was started by American-Hawaiian Steamship Company in the mid-1960s. At that time, the First Neighborhood and surrounding areas were part of the most extensively planned community development in the world. A model for other developments in this country and abroad, the First Neighborhood offers beautiful streets, parks, sub-streets and greenbelts together with the adjacent hills and lake to make an ideal environment for living and raising families.

The residents of the First Neighborhood, as in other neighborhoods in the area, are required to adhere to the goals and standards of the original planning, and to maintain the ambience of this master planned neighborhood. Homeowners are bound by Covenants, Conditions and Restrictions (CC&Rs) included with their property deed. After more than thirty-five years, the First Neighborhood is excellently maintained and remains one of the most desired places to live, anywhere!
